Montreal and Quebec City

For Robyn's belated 21st birthday we went on a vacation to Quebec City and Montreal. Here are a ton (like 120) pictures from our trip. It was a wonderful time and I'm just so thankful to have had so much undivided time with my beloved lil sis!!
Saying cheese on day 1 in Montreal!

Metro pics, near an odd display
Keepin' it cool in the Metro
More metro art. Montreal is a very art-centered place

Close up of the stained glass, so beautiful!

The city of Montreal

After we hiked up the Mont Royal in Montreal, we took some pictures at the look out. Robyn was SO excited to have made it to the top :)

Robyn and Cleo, her friend from a girls summer camp outside of Montreal 2 years ago, at the top of Mont Royal.

Just some good lookin' girls ha

Cleo took us to one of her favorite vegan restaurants in Montreal. I thoroughly enjoyed it (one of my favorite meals of the trip!). I had some beet/veggie juice but Robyn's drank won: a creamsicle vegan milkshake!

These are the wraps we ordered. I think Robyn's had tofu and veggies!

But mine was the yummier one with a curry, garbanzo bean thing going on in a homemade wrap!!

And don't forget the vegan dessert: blueberry cheesecake!

Montreal is big on biking. Here's a shot of all the rentable bikes available on just one street.

Here are the personal-bikes locked up outside a metro station.

Don't really know why there were a few of these huge green Adirondak chairs outside of a metro station, but of course we had to take a few pics on it since we were playing tourist.

Robyn and Cleo just relaxin!

This was a display of large car fresheners as a comment on natural and unnatural objects in today's society. I don't know if those three girl-trees in the front are natural or un...

Hanging out at Place d'Yountville

Getting some grub at a lobster shack, literally.

The so-so lobster roll.

And an even less so-so lobster pizza. I didn't eat it, but that's what I heard.

Lovin' the lobster!

Relaxing on the back patio for a bit.

Yummy bread, good friends and a nice evening!

SO EXCITED!!!!!!

3 martini surprises. We asked the cute bartender to surprise us and he made us some delicious drink with strawberries, basil and some other yummy things!

Cheers to the 21 year old! :( so old so fast

Dining in Montreal

Some type of green salad, haha, obviously I don't remember.

Tomatoes, cheese and more tomatoes

Creamy mac and cheese with scallops (? some type of sea food)

Dizzying dining

Delicious beet dish

Dad chompin on his chow

Cleo finishing up her food

The best second-hand store in the world. This monstrous pile of clothes is full of $1 clothing. You take off your shoes, climb up into the pile and start going through the things. I didn't find anything but Robyn did. Also, as you're shopping around the store clerks serve little drinks (lemonade in summer, hot chocolate in winter!)

Fancy dining always includes silverware in new and creative positions

Innovative wine holders above a bar

Toque=fancy upscale Montreal restaurant

Cheers x4 for Robyn!

Gazpacho with black olives, which is the secret winning ingredient in gazpacho I learned!

A surprise from the chef

Tomato, cucumber, radish and shrimp salad

darn tasty bread and butter

Simple yet elegant

Meat, nicely arranged, but from animals...

Chicken. Served with a syrupy sauce (Montreal and Quebec are famous for their Maple Syrup). Served with grilled zuchinni and berries

Eggplant, onion, carrot celebration!

Feelin good

Can't wait for crepes!

Enjoying some French onion soup!

Veggie crepe

love love love crepes!

Our much awaited crepe dessert with ice cream!

Who knew Dad loves French baked goods so much? We love pan au chocolate and almonds croissants.

Traveling makes us drowsy!

Quebec City's first food for us: croq du monsier--veggie style
A nice head pat after lunch!

Robyn was very hungry after traveling! (2 hour bus drive from Montreal to Quebec City).

And I had said I wasn't hungry...

We thought this guy was watering this plant just a bit too much. As water poured from the hose, water continued pouring out the bottom of the holder--what was the point?

Taking a close look at the streets of Quebec City.

The boardwalk in front of the big beautiful hotel and behind the water front.

Take 2.

Sisterly love

Robyn wanted to look like a flag pole. Nice job Robyn.

Robyn loved this piece of art. She's going to paint it for me.

Here's a close up Rob, start painting for Xmas ;)

Chateau Frontenac

Beautiful sunset

Enjoying the view of the chateau from the ferry across the river

Robyn called this "Business in the front, party in the back". Love it.

A yummy beer cider that Robyn discovered.

Cheese platter. I was so hungry that ended up being my dinner. Bad idea. Bloated later.

Escargot.

Chicken? I don't remember...

Meat and potatoes. Dad said it's a very traditional meal.

A cole-slaw like dish

Cream puffs with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Robyn or the site, which is better looking? Or her thrift shop floral shirt...tough decision.

Looking good ladies ha

Breakfast in Quebec City: croissant and almond pastry. Yummy!!

Delicioso

In addition to the pastries, I also ate a veggie sandwich on foccacia.

Wake up Quebec!

LOVE YOU SHISHTER!

Who's more serious? The sraight-faced little sister or the smiling, fanny-pack-wearing big sister?

Going on a tour of the Citadel, the walled army base.

The guard with her trusty goat (rrrooobynnn--spoken in a goat-like bahhhh)

The view of the river from the top of the Citadel

Our wonderful and educational tour guide.

Me and the Chateau

Oooh look at that river ha

Goofy girls

See the resemblance?

Icey lemonade after our tour of the Citadel

Can you see the metal pig hiding in the grass? I'm kissing its tail.

A great beet cake with balsamic vinegar and goat cheese.

Robyn enjoying her fries, coleslaw and Croque du monsier.

A funny picture I saw in the bathroom: "Don't Worry, Be Happy." A boy picking his nose, dazing off, looking worried, smiling.

Cured meats and cranberry sauce on toast

Robyn and another bowl of French onion soup

Escargot x2

Orange soup. Not the fruit, the color. I think it was tomato or carrot? I don't remember.

Dad, enjoying the hot and tasty soup.

A very very VERY cheesy dish with veggies underneath. Next time ask for the dish with no cheese please.

Another cheesy mashed potato dish with veggies and sea food underneath. Too rich.

Chicken and veggies

Meat, potato thing and some veggies that were tasty

Hugging is always nice after a big meal

Another cheers for the belated birthday girl

Maple pie. It's like pecan pie without the pecans. Just as delicious as you'd think it would be!

Blueberry pie. Also wonderful

Creme brulee!

Sisters, lightpost, Chateau Frontenac

Me, excited to be sitting in the Chateau Frontenac drinking some tea as the dark approached

Contemplating the day ha

What a fantastic trip!

Here's to another outstanding 21 years! :)
